Happy Endings #015 // Scuba x Egyptrixx x Exeter

Mansion x Scion Sessions presents…

H A P P Y E N D I N G S

Happy Endings - in partnership with Scion Sessions - returns after a several months long hiatus, resurrecting our series of left-field electronics served up in dim-sum restaurants across Chinatown.

Headlining the happily refunct party is Scuba, the forward-and-to-the-left-thinking producer from Berlin and Britain who has made waves with Personality this year. Scuba surfaces after sets by Toronto’s own beat-producers, Egyptrixx and Exeter.

+ Scuba (Hotflush, UK)

http://soundcloud.com/hotflush

Scuba (Paul Rose) is the founder of the influential and consistently high quality Hotflush Recordings. From playing a part in the formative years of the sound on the pirate airwaves in London, to working dancefloors across the globe, to a swathe of excellent releases on Hotflush and the high profile Soul Jazz imprint, Scuba brings his own unique musicality to the dubstep sound.

Always fresh and innovative, Scuba’s recent output is at once melodic and musical and devastatingly heavy. The Hotflush label has been a creative incubator for some of the most original and forward-thinking producers in dubstep including the likes of Distance, Joy Orbison, Mount Kimbie, Pangaea, Loefah, Toasty, Slaughter Mob, Vaccine, Gravious, Marlow, Boxcutter and Jazzsteppa.

+ Egyptrixx (Night Slugs, TO)

Egyptrixx may be the token Canadian in the Night Slugs stable, but as a musician he’s a dedicated universalist. Psutka’s knowledge runs deep, allowing him to thoughtfully pull from house, techno, dubstep, UK funky, and whatever other genres he needs (gothy drone rock, anyone?) to create a unique sound that he likes to refer to as “celestial club music.”

+ Exeter (RBMA, TO)

https://www.facebook.com/EXETERto

Toronto’s Exeter is conflicted - pledging allegiance to both grimey rap and the countless permutations of dance music, his sound, somehow, lies in the space between. After attending 2011’s Red Bull Music Academy, 2012 sees the release of Exeter’s debut single, the funk bounce of “88MPH”. Coming soon through Scion A/V.
