O M U N I T + S I N J I N H A W K E
Om Unit has not been an artist easily defined by a single genre, turning in pieces of space-age footwork, funkified beats, and bits of electro-infused bass along the way. Meanwhile, Hawke’s sleek and robust take on hybridized forms of bass music have proven worth the buzz. We bring these two prolific Red Music Music Academy alum together for a night of unquestionably fresh sets finely tuned for the dancefloor.
+ Om Unit (All City/Civil Music/RBMA, UK)
With a very distinctive sound, Om Unit has captured the minds of beat fanatics and club-goers alike. Style-wise you could file under lo-slung bass music, slow-house grooves, “wonky”, or you could just say “electronic music.”
Notable releases to date have been his entry into the vinyl game with his refix of Joker’s anthemic “Digidesign” (white label) as well as his 7″ Lightgrids/Lavender on All city, The Corridor EP on Terrorhythm, and 2011′s first solo outing EP “The Timps” on Civil Music and his double-collaboration 12″ with Kromestar on his very own Cosmic Bridge imprint. This alongside a string of remixes for the likes of Adam Freeland, Starkey, Stateless, Foreign Beggars, Ital Tek, Illum Sphere, Take (Sweatson Klank), and many more!
+ Sinjin Hawke (RBMA, MTL/Barcelona)
Even though “The Lights EP” (Pelican Fly) was his first official release, Sinjin Hawke has been putting in work for quite some time. He launched a groundbreaking party series in MTL called Boomclap - featuring artists like DJ Rashad, Lunice, Kingdom, Africa Hitech, and Jacques Greene. He’s also released a slew of club ready bootlegs with dutch vanguard Truants, and graced an abundance of stages throughout Europe and North America.
Off of the widespread appraisal of ‘The Lights EP’, he’s begun to set quite a stage for himself: collaborating with DJ Sliink, Canblaster, Morris, and Riton, while mixtapeing for URB and RinseFM. Meanwhile rumors swirl of a live set in the works with 2012 looking like a big year for Sinjin Hawke.
